Iowa School Safety Alliance

Tragic events in schools remind us of the need for constant review of school safety and security. Your myriad responsibilities as an administrator as well as your leadership preparation haven't necessarily provided the expertise to address safety concerns. The Iowa School Safety Alliance is here to help.

The ISSA, a group of public agencies and private partners, initially came together to create the Iowa School Safety Flip Chart. This resource is a template which can help facilitate safety and security planning for your schools and district.

To help you further enhance school safety, the ISSA will continue to develop recommendations and safety updates which will be emailed to you periodically throughout the year and are available below. The planned topics reflect issues that have come up during school site assessments and comments received from schools across Iowa. You may already be addressing some of these issues, and new issues may emerge as events occur.

To submit a topic for consideration, or to request additional information on resources, email ISSA contact Matt Carver, SAI Legal Services director
