Cedar Rapids Superintendent Elected to SAI Executive Committee


Brad Buck, superintendent of Cedar Rapids Community School District, has been elected to the School Administrators of Iowa Executive Committee.

Buck begins a one-year term as vice president of the Executive Committee September 1, 2019. He will move through the offices becoming president-elect in 2020 and will serve as president of the association beginning September 2021. His term will conclude as past president in 2022-23.

“Further building capacity in all leaders is integral in the work ahead. I look forward to addressing this goal with a specific focus on equity, access, and diversity of leaders in order to enhance our efforts to serve students and strengthen our workforce,” says SAI Vice President-Elect Brad Buck. “And through strategic and proactive legislative advocacy as well as championing existing SAI goals, in collaboration with the SAI leadership team, I look forward to supporting the improvement of the overall well-being and professional experiences of school administrators across the state.”

Buck has been superintendent of Cedar Rapids Community School District since 2015 and previously served from 2013-15 as director of the Iowa Department of Education.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and secondary education from the University of Northern Iowa, a master’s in educational administration and a doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies from Iowa State University.
