Craig Barnum is Iowa Central Office Administrator of the Year


Craig Barnum, executive director of digital literacy and information technology for the Cedar Rapids Community School District, has been named Iowa’s 2021 Central Office Administrator of the Year by the School Administrators of Iowa.

“Congratulations to Craig on being selected for this honor! He and his team have accomplished much since he came to the Cedar Rapids CSD, including vast improvements in student information flow, and tremendous strides made in the critical areas of access and equity. He cares deeply for every student in the district and represents the best of what Iowa school leadership has to offer,” said SAI Executive Director Roark Horn.

Barnum joined Cedar Rapids CSD in the summer of 2018 and previously served as director of technology and information services at College Community School District. He began his career as a sixth grade teacher. His education includes a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and English from Mt. Mercy, a master’s in educational technology from the University of Northern Iowa and his specialist’s in educational leadership from Drake University.
