Iowa Principal Elected to Board of National Principals Association

Paul Wenger, principal of Jordan Creek Elementary, to serve as vice president of NAESP Board of Directors
Paul Wenger, principal of Jordan Creek Elementary in West Des Moines, Iowa, has been elected to the National Association of Elementary School Principals Board of Directors. Dr. Earl Franks, NAESP executive director, announced the results from the association’s headquarters.
Wenger begins a one-year term as vice president of the NAESP Board of Directors Aug. 1, 2019. In August 2020, he’ll begin a one-year term as NAESP Board of Directors president-elect, and he’ll serve as president of the association for one year, starting in August 2021.
“We must continue to raise the volume of the elementary and middle-level principal voices in the conversation about reforming and refining the agenda for public education,” said Wenger. “As a member of the NAESP leadership team, I promise to lead with an energy and passion that is focused on taking care of our profession, supporting the needs of principals, enlarging our circle of influence, and doing what is right for kids—always.”
Wenger has been a member of NAESP since 2000, for which he is currently NAESP Zone 6 director. He is also a member of the School Administrators of Iowa, where he served as vice president, president-elect, president, and past president.
Wenger has been principal of Jordan Creek Elementary since 2015 and previously served from 2000-15 as principal of Ed-Co Elementary School in Colesburg, Iowa.
Wenger earned a Bachelor of Arts from Wartburg College in 1987 and a Master of Education in educational leadership from Iowa State University in 2000.
