Linda Carroll, director of teaching and learning with the Woodward-Granger Community School District, is the recipient of the 2013 Iowa Central Office Administrator of the Year award from the School Administrators of Iowa.
“It is a privilege to be recognized as Iowa’s 2013 Central Office Administrator of the Year! Our district has made tremendous strides over the last several years. I have been fortunate to work with colleagues who truly embrace the district’s mission which says, ‘Woodward-Granger will build futures one student at a time through a supportive culture of high expectations.’ Passionate educators in all capacities desire to make a significant contribution while inspiring, encouraging and educating students. I am proud to be associated with this intentional and committed group of professionals.” Carroll exclaimed.
“Linda Carroll has led the district in implementing the Iowa Core, which provides academic expectations for K-12 students. Her work with teacher learning teams has provided opportunities to try new approaches, explore the latest research and use new technologies—all in an effort to encourage the district’s educators to be the best they can,” said Dan Smith, SAI executive director.
Carroll previously served as middle school principal/curriculum director in the district from 2006-2009. She began her career as a fifth-grade teacher. Her education includes a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, and master’s degrees in school counseling, and elementary and secondary administration.
She was nominated by her peers, selected for the award by a committee of Iowa central office administrators and will be honored in May at an awards ceremony at the state capitol.
SAI, a statewide organization founded in 1987, represents more than 1,800 Iowa educational administrators. SAI’s mission is to support, encourage and develop Iowa’s educational leaders and learners.
