Marion Assistant Superintendent Gretchen Kriegel is Iowa Central Office Administrator of the Year

Gretchen Kriegel, assistant superintendent of Marion Independent School District, has been named the 2022 Central Office Administrator of the Year by the School Administrators of Iowa.

“Congratulations to Gretchen for being selected for this honor! One of the hallmarks of her leadership is her ability to build great relationships with everyone she encounters and help them find the best in themselves. Doing so helps her provide an outstanding learning environment and maximize student outcomes in Marion ISD,” said SAI Executive Director Roark Horn.

Kriegel has been in her current role since 2019, she previously served as curriculum and special education director at Monticello Community School District. She began her career as a grade 9-12 special education teacher at Benton Community Schools. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Winona State University, and master’s and specialist’s degrees in educational leadership from Drake University.

A committee of Iowa central office administrators selected Kriegel, and she will be recognized at the association’s Annual Conference in August.
