Parental Involvement in Children's Education
October 4, 2010 by Tracy Harms
October has been designated Parental Involvement in Children's Education Month in Iowa. This recognition emphasizes parents’ roles in student achievement and encourages them to partner with schools in their children's education. The Iowa Statewide Parent Information Resource Center website offers a detailed engagement toolkit for educators and tips for parents to support their kids. As schools hold Parent-Teacher conferences in the coming months, Iowa PIRC director Ed Redalen's SAI Report article offers ideas for these meetings to serve as the cornerstone to developing strong parent-school relationships.
