Paul Wenger is Elected SAI Vice President![]() April 23, 2014 Paul Wenger, principal of Edgewood-Colesburg Elementary, was recently elected as vice president of School Administrators of Iowa, presiding on the SAI Executive Committee and serving on the SAI Representative Council, the policy-making body for the association. Responsibilities of the SAI Executive Committee include actively promoting the mission and goals of the association. “We are fortunate to have leaders like Paul Wenger who are willing to dedicate their time to the association, helping us reinforce the important role that effective administration plays in improving schools and creating true learning communities. He will also assist SAI in working to develop educational leaders who help make it possible for all of Iowa’s young people to reach their full potential,” emphasized Dan Smith, SAI executive director. Wenger has been active in the National Association of Elementary School Principals as the Iowa representative and federal relations coordinator from 2007-13. He also served on the NAESP membership committee from 2011-13, the credentials committee from 2007-13, the nominating committee in 2010 and as the committee's chairman in 2011. His state service opportunities with SAI have included being a mentor three years, a member of the legislative committee for six years and on the Iowa Leadership Academy steering committee from 2008-11. Principal at Edgewood-Colesburg since 2000, Wenger began his career as a teacher and coach at Central Community School District. His education includes his bachelor's degree in elementary education from Wartburg College and his master's in educational leadership from Iowa State University.
