Chapter 6: Funding Extra-Help Strategies
Odden describes several "extra-help" strategies that he believes are important to improving student performance. Among the strategies he lists are individual and small-group tutoring for struggling students, extended time for students who are struggling with the core curriculum and summer school.

Often, they can be funded, at least in part, by reallocating resources away from less-effective strategies toward those that research has shown to be effective in schools. However, as this chapter has detailed, more resources might be needed, especially in states with low per-pupil spending ..."
