“We are pleased to recognize Iowa students for their extracurricular achievements,” said Dr. Dan Smith, SAI executive director.

SAI annually awards four scholarships to graduating seniors in the performing arts. The 2006-07 winners who performed during SAI's New Administrator's Institute July 16 and Annual Conference, Aug. 8 & 9, are:

Instrumentalist – Logan Vander Wiel, Cedar Falls High School, selected by the Iowa Bandmasters Association

Pianist - Alyssa Earley, BGM High School, selected by the Iowa Music Association

Vocalist - Ian Richardson, Coon Rapids-Bayard High School, selected by the Iowa Choral Directors Association

Speaker - Jonathan Ballew, Ballard High School, selected by the Iowa High School Speech Association

The respective organizations will select a new group of recipients from the 2008 graduating class.
