Organization Overview
As the K-12 outreach arm of the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center at The University of Iowa, the Jacobson Institute engages K-12 students and their schools in innovation, invention, and entrepreneurship education. We offer teacher professional development, curriculum resources, student competitions, various programs, and community engagement opportunities—specifically tailored to grades K-12.
In November 2024, the Jacobson Institute was officially named the state of Iowa affiliate for Invention Convention Worldwide, an invention education program for K-12 students. The Institute provides students across Iowa the chance to showcase their inventions at the Iowa Invention Convention competition in Iowa City. Winners can then advance to the U.S. Nationwide event held at the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Dearborn, MI.
