In this workshop, school leaders will gain a deeper understanding of how school health services intersect with instructional outcomes, compliance obligations, and funding opportunities. Participants will discuss action steps that they can take immediately to improve student health programming and decrease liability. The workshop explores leadership responsibilities and decision-making when overseeing school nursing programs, Medicaid reimbursement, special education (IDEA) and Section 504 accommodations.

Participants will:

  • understand the leader’s legal and fiscal responsibilities in overseeing school health services.
  • learn how school nursing services supports academic achievement, reduce chronic absenteeism, and promote student wellness.
  • examine how medicaid reimbursement can sustainable meet student needs.
  • understand the role of IDEA and Section 504 compliance in health service delivery.
  • strengthen collaboration strategies between educational and health related departments.
  • identify opportunities to maximize staffing, funding and operational efficiency.
Cost: $25 covers breakfast/lunch for participants
