Heather Fuger Elected as SAI Vice President

School Administrators of Iowa members have elected Central Lee Elementary Principal Heather Fuger as the association's vice president for the 2026-27 term. Fuger joins the SAI Executive Committee on Sept. 1, where she will help advance the association’s mission of developing Iowa’s educational leaders and learners.

“I am thrilled to welcome Heather as the new vice president of our association. Her active involvement in our association and her community has made her a strong advocate for Iowa administrators and students,” said SAI Executive Director Lisa Remy. “She is deeply committed to mentoring and supporting fellow leaders, and I look forward to the perspective and dedication she will bring to this role.”

An SAI member since 2008, Fuger frequently mentors new principals through the association's mentoring program. Her professional reach extends to the Institute for Education Innovation (IEI) and Members Impacting Students; Improving Curriculum (MISIC).

Fuger has led Central Lee as principal since 2014, following a tenure as the district's director of curriculum and instruction. She began her career in Missouri, teaching in Wyaconda and Kahoka before returning to Iowa.

Fuger earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Culver-Stockton College and a master’s degree in educational administration from William Woods University.

“I am deeply honored and grateful to those who placed their trust in me to serve as vice president of the School Administrators of Iowa,” Fuger said. “I accept this opportunity with a full heart and a strong commitment to serve. Together with my colleagues across our great state, I look forward to learning, growing, and collaborating in ways that strengthen our profession and support the incredible work happening in our schools every day. When we support and inspire one another as leaders, the true winners are the students of Iowa. I cannot wait to get started.”
